At DreamBungalows.com, our mission is to help you confidently choose extraordinary over-water escapes—backed by first-hand stays, transparent methods, and reef-friendly values.
Who We Are (and Why You Can Trust Us)
Dream Bungalows is led by Lola, a specialist in over-water resorts and lagoon experiences. Our reviews prioritize what matters on the water: privacy, swimability, safety, service, and long-term stewardship of fragile marine environments. We publish only after human editors have tested, verified, and clearly explained what we found.
What We Publish (Scope)
- Deep-dive resort reviews of over-water and closely related stays (underwater rooms, lagoon villas, reef-adjacent suites)
- Curated shortlists by destination, budget, trip type (honeymoons, families), and design features
- Planning guides (seasonality, transfers, packing, reef-safe sunscreen, etiquette with marine life)
- Photo/video walk-throughs and side-by-side comparisons of suites and amenities
- Sustainability context (reef health, construction footprint, operations) and basic accessibility notes
We do not publish promotional copy disguised as journalism or content that encourages unsafe or environmentally harmful behavior.
Our Standards (At a Glance)
- First-hand, test-based coverage: complete stays, repeat checks when possible
- Comparable data: water clarity, deck privacy, ladder entry, glass-floor size, shade, seasonal pricing
- Safety & sustainability first: current strength, entry/exit notes, wildlife etiquette, reef-safe guidance
- Transparency: date-stamped facts; assumptions and limitations called out
- Editorial independence: no pay-for-placement; comps disclosed within the article
- Accountability: prompt corrections; material changes logged in an editor’s note
Methodology & Fact-Checking
On-site process: Reviews are based on full stays, original photography/video, room and hardware measurements, and staff briefings where available. We verify volatile details—rates, inclusions, transfer fees, and policies—on a recurring cadence and again at publication.
Comparable metrics we track may include:
- Lagoon clarity/visibility (observational notes and repeat checks)
- House-reef access and biodiversity indicators
- Noise and privacy (deck sightlines, neighbor proximity, boat traffic)
- Sleep quality (AC performance, blackout, bedding)
- Food & beverage value (quality, dietary handling, price vs. portion)
- Transfers and logistics (seaplane/boat reliability, baggage rules, costs)
- Maintenance cadence and response times
Sourcing: Primary documents (resort materials, in-room directories), on-site observation, and reputable destination/industry references. Where figures are estimates or subject to change, we say so and advise readers to confirm locally.
Sustainability & Reef-Friendly Lens
We favor properties that demonstrate reef-safe design and operations (responsible siting, wastewater handling, lighting discipline, waste reduction, meaningful conservation). We avoid glamorizing behavior that stresses ecosystems and include practical guidance so guests can leave no trace.
Ratings & Comparisons
Where we use scores, we define each category and pair numbers with plain-language trade-offs. A higher score does not override critical safety or sustainability concerns, which are always called out prominently.
Photos, Video & Editing
- We prioritize original media captured during stays.
- Global adjustments (exposure, crop) are allowed; we never add or remove structural elements.
- If we use a press image (e.g., a site map) for clarity, it is labeled as such.
- People appear only with consent or via properly licensed stock.
Independence, Affiliates & Disclosures
- No pay-for-placement. Editorial decisions are independent of advertisers or partners.
- If a stay, meal, or transfer is comped or discounted, we state it clearly in the review.
- We may use affiliate links to bookable partners. Using these links never affects our recommendations and adds no cost to you; it helps fund on-site reporting.
- Sponsored content—rare and only when relevant—is clearly labeled (“Sponsored,” “Partner”).
Corrections, Updates & Takedowns
- Corrections: If you spot an error, send the URL and details; verified mistakes are fixed promptly. Material changes receive an Editor’s Note.
- Updates: Core destination and “Best Of” pages are reviewed on a recurring schedule, with faster refreshes when airline routes, entry rules, or major property changes occur.
- Rights & safety: If media or facts raise rights, privacy, or safety concerns, contact us; we will review quickly.
Ethics, Safety & Accessibility
- We do not accept gifts or comps that require positive coverage.
- Wildlife interactions and water activities are described with safety first and leave-no-trace principles.
- We aim for accessible layouts, descriptive alt text for images we control, and clear captions. Please report barriers so we can improve.
