Sunset Overwater Villa
The Sunset version uses the same listed 86 to 87 square metres and similar core layout, but faces the evening sky. It is the romantic default if sundowners on your own deck will be a daily ritual.
Do not assume it has a private outdoor pool because it includes “Jacuzzi in Bathroom” in the amenities. That is an indoor bath feature, while the actual swimming-pool category is the Club Sunset villa.
Reethi Muraka Overwater Villa
The Reethi Muraka is the roomier non-pool option, officially listed at 106 square metres for two adults and one child. Its larger terrace and ocean views make it the best all-around couple’s pick when space matters more than a named sunrise or sunset aspect.
Centara’s introductory text also calls it 110 square metres, so there is a small inconsistency on the same page. Use the structured 106-square-metre listing for comparison and ask the resort if exact size is important to you.
Family Overwater Villa with Kids Bedroom
This 93-square-metre villa is not just a sofa bed wearing a family badge. Its official description specifies a separate children’s bedroom with bunk beds, PlayStation games, a secured child-friendly sundeck, direct lagoon access, and a private Jacuzzi.
Maximum occupancy is shown as two adults and two children. Confirm children’s ages, bed dimensions, deck barriers, door locks, and whether staff can provide additional safety equipment before trusting a category name with your smallest explorer.
Club Sunset Overwater Pool Villa
This is the flagship water choice, with sunset orientation, a private infinity pool, and a larger footprint. The current room page lists 114 square metres and a 12-square-metre pool for up to two adults and one child.
It is the meaningful upgrade when you will use the pool daily or want that postcard sunset from your own water. The resort’s prose says 110 square metres while its highlight panel says 114, so confirm the booked category and layout rather than arguing with four mysterious square metres.

The Club Sunset Pool Villa earns its premium for a real infinity pool plus sunset, not simply a fancier label. It still accommodates only two adults and one child according to the official listing, so it is not the answer for a standard family of four.

Sunrise villas reward coffee drinkers, jet-lagged early birds, and anyone who prefers cooler first light on the deck. Sunset villas provide the classic romantic hour, but their decks can feel warmer in the late afternoon.

The resort describes an award-winning house reef and highlights snorkeling plus a nearby historic shipwreck dive site. That gives Machchafushi a stronger underwater identity than a resort whose marine story begins and ends with turquoise color.
The official accommodation page says guests can snorkel directly from water-villa decks, but the safest and richest route can vary by tide, current, and villa position. Ask the dive center which jetty section is best right now and where staffed or marked entry points are located.
Coral health and visibility change with seasons and weather, and a shipwreck “near the island” is not necessarily a casual swim for every guest. Follow staff guidance, use a buddy, and treat dive sites as dive sites rather than irresistible props.
