Cinnamon Velifushi Water Villas: Jacuzzi, Pool, or Value?
The deck steps drop into a Vaavu Atoll lagoon where rays, reef sharks, and bright fish may appear before breakfast has finished negotiating with your coffee. Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives adds three distinct ways to live above that water, from a roomy standard bungalow to a 208-square-metre pool suite.
The catch is that the middle category uses a saltwater Jacuzzi, while the top suite has a mini pool with Jacuzzi. Those are meaningful differences, but only if you will use them more than the sea waiting at the bottom of the steps.
Cinnamon Velifushi in 30 seconds
- Best for: couples and families wanting spacious water villas, active marine life, and a choice of speedboat or seaplane.
- Water lineup: 100-square-metre Water Bungalow, 100-square-metre Sunset Water Bungalow with Jacuzzi, and 208-square-metre Water Suite with Pool.
- Our pick: standard Water Bungalow for value, or Sunset Jacuzzi for couples who will use the view and soak every evening.
- Know before booking: the pool suite is the big space upgrade, while specialty restaurants can remain chargeable on every meal plan.
Velifushi occupies a useful middle ground between simple bungalow island and grand pool-villa resort. Our Maldives overwater bungalow guide puts its sizes and Vaavu Atoll location in context.
The three current overwater categories
Water Bungalow
The standard Water Bungalow is listed at 100 square metres with a king bed, direct lagoon access, bathtub, private deck, and overwater hammock. Cinnamon’s overview shows capacity up to four adults, which is unusually high for a one-bedroom-looking bungalow and worth clarifying.
There is no private Jacuzzi or pool in the current description. This is still a generous water stay, and often the smartest choice when the upgrade difference can fund diving, dining, or several days of very serious dessert.
Sunset Water Bungalow with Jacuzzi
This 100-square-metre category keeps the same headline size but adds a sunset-facing position and private saltwater Jacuzzi. The official room page lists capacity for up to three adults plus a hammock, bathtub, wine cooler, and 55-inch television.
The Jacuzzi is a soak, not a swimming pool, and the sunset orientation is the other genuine upgrade. Choose it when dusk on the deck is a daily event rather than a photo you will take once and then watch from the bar.
Water Suite with Pool
The Water Suite with Pool jumps to 208 square metres for up to four adults. It adds a mini pool with Jacuzzi, panoramic ocean view, dressing area, two minibars, private bar counter, expansive deck seating, and hammock.
This is a true space upgrade and the best family or friends option, subject to confirming the actual sleeping plan. A 208-square-metre villa can still feel socially intimate when four adults discover that only one king bed appears in the at-a-glance details.

Our pick
For most couples, start with the Water Bungalow and compare the full-stay supplement to Sunset Jacuzzi. If the difference feels reasonable and you love a soak, the middle category combines two features you can enjoy every evening.
Choose the Water Suite with Pool for more than two guests, long stays, or travelers who genuinely swim and lounge privately. Confirm extra beds and privacy before using the maximum occupancy as a design plan.
A good standard-bungalow position can beat a poorly placed premium room. Our villa-position guide explains why water depth, neighbors, walking distance, wind, and outlook should appear in your request.
Water, reef, and deck snorkeling
Cinnamon promotes direct lagoon access, and current guest material describes marine sightings around the water villas. That is encouraging, but personal reviews are snapshots rather than a guaranteed daily wildlife cast.
Ask the dive center which jetty section has the safest current snorkeling route, how deep the water is at low tide, and whether coral rubble makes water shoes useful. Reef health, visibility, and current change with weather and season.
Use our overwater snorkeling safety guide before treating villa steps like a private dive platform. Follow marked routes, carry flotation when appropriate, and never jump without confirmed depth.
Vaavu Atoll is known for wider diving and shark encounters, but excursions are distinct from house-reef access. Ask which experiences require a boat, certification, minimum age, extra charge, or a certain confidence level.
Speedboat or seaplane?
Current Booking.com property information lists both shared speedboat and shared seaplane transfers, while Cinnamon runs offers tied to each mode. This flexibility is useful, though the boat ride is much longer than an airport-area resort and sea conditions matter.
Ask which transfer the resort recommends for your international flight, total duration, check-in cutoff, return cost, baggage terms, and weather contingency. Share flight details by the stated deadline so “we thought you knew” does not become the first island memory.
Promotions may cover transfers for only two guests or depend on a seven-night stay. Our speedboat versus seaplane guide helps balance cost, scenery, motion comfort, and daylight schedules.

Dining and the all-inclusive asterisk
VAH is the main international buffet, while Iru Kitchen & Bar and the overwater Marlin Seafood Restaurant add specialty choices. The menus create welcome variety, but variety is not the same as inclusion.
Cinnamon’s current Marlin page states that advance reservations are required and the restaurant is chargeable to all guests regardless of meal plan. The current Iru page carries the same chargeable warning even though selected all-inclusive drinks are available.
Ask what breakfast, half board, full board, all-inclusive, and premium all-inclusive actually cover on your dates. Verify drinks, minibar, specialty coffee, snacks, room service, restaurant credits, premium dishes, and children’s terms.
A four-night stay can be comfortable around the buffet, while a week makes specialty dining more tempting. Price those dinners before choosing a cheaper plan that quietly turns every interesting menu into an extra.
The total-cost traps
Add villa, transfer, taxes, plan, specialty meals, premium drinks, diving, snorkeling trips, spa, and festive supplements. A family should also check whether transfer promotions and free-child offers cover each actual traveler and selected room.
The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority confirms resort Green Tax of USD 12 per person per day from 1 January 2025, while children under two are exempt. If a booking screen shows a different child amount, ask the resort to reconcile it with current law before payment.
Confirm Tourism GST and service charge too, plus Christmas or New Year’s Eve dinners. Our true-cost checklist helps compare offers with different transfer and meal inclusions.

Couples, families, and who should skip
Couples have a clear upgrade path from simple water living to sunset Jacuzzi romance. Families and friend groups get unusual published occupancy and the huge pool suite, but exact beds and bathroom privacy need confirmation.
Skip the Water Bungalow if a private water feature is nonnegotiable, and skip the top suite if you will spend every day diving. Paying for a pool you only wave at is a very sophisticated form of clutter.
Travelers who need a short transfer should look closer to Malé, while restaurant explorers should budget beyond the plan. Nervous swimmers should request the calmest, shallowest suitable jetty position rather than choosing by sunset alone.
How long should you stay?
Five to seven nights is ideal for balancing transfer effort with lagoon time, excursions, and dining variety. Four nights works if flights connect cleanly and your main goal is a water-villa reset.
For a split stay, combine Velifushi with a closer speedboat island and confirm the actual routing. Resort-to-resort transfers often return through the airport even when the map suggests an elegant straight line.
Questions to ask before booking
- Which exact water category, view, occupancy, and extra-bed layout are confirmed?
- Which jetty section offers the safest current swimming and snorkeling for our ability?
- What are the full speedboat and seaplane costs, timings, and baggage limits?
- Which restaurants, drinks, minibar items, and snacks are included in the selected plan?
- How large and deep are the Jacuzzi or mini pool, and are they temperature controlled?
- What pool and deck safety equipment is available for children?
- Are taxes, service, transfers, and festive dinners included in the final quote?

Cinnamon Velifushi FAQs
What overwater villas does Cinnamon Velifushi offer?
The current lineup is Water Bungalow, Sunset Water Bungalow with Jacuzzi, and Water Suite with Pool.
Which is the best value?
The 100-square-metre Water Bungalow is our value pick because it keeps the space, deck, hammock, and direct water access. Upgrade for sunset, Jacuzzi, pool, or extra space only when you will use it.
Is the Jacuzzi a swimming pool?
No. The Sunset Water Bungalow has a saltwater Jacuzzi, while the 208-square-metre Water Suite has a separate mini pool with Jacuzzi.
Can four adults stay overwater?
The official directory lists up to four adults in the standard Water Bungalow and Water Suite with Pool. Confirm actual beds, privacy, and any supplement before booking four.
Can you snorkel from the villa?
Direct lagoon access is provided, and snorkeling can be rewarding, but conditions vary by position and tide. Ask the dive center for current safe routes.
Are specialty restaurants included?
Not necessarily. Current Marlin and Iru pages say they are chargeable regardless of meal plan, so request the complete inclusion sheet.
The verdict
Cinnamon Velifushi offers a refreshingly logical water-villa ladder: generous standard, sunset soak, or giant pool suite. The standard bungalow is no consolation prize, and the two upgrades add real features rather than decorative adjectives.
Choose based on how you will spend the deck hours, then verify sleeping layouts, transfer mode, and specialty dining. The ocean can supply the drama; your booking confirmation should supply the boring precision.
